A Birmingham woman has been charged in the Nov. 23 wreck that killed a University of Montevallo student and injured four of her classmates, including two Brewton natives.
Diane Harris Stephens, 52, was charged with one count of reckless murder and one count of leaving the scene of an accident. She was arrested Thursday afternoon by the City of Montevallo Police Department.
Stephens remained in the Shelby County Jail Monday in lieu of $150,000 bond, officials said.
Montevallo student Amy "Amie" K. Elliott of Madison was killed in the wreck.
Brewton twins Joseph and Stephen Billy were injured in the wreck. Stephen Billy was released from the hospital the morning after the Monday evening wreck, while Joseph Billy was released two days after the accident.
