Warhawks get back to winning

After having their losing streak grow to six games with two losses to Chattahoochee Valley Saturday at home, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team ended their streak Sunday with a 4-3 win.
JDCC lost 9-5 and 17-0 Saturday to have their record fall to 4-14 overall and to 0-5 in conference play before getting the win on Sunday to improve to 5-14 and get their first conference win.
The Warhawks were set to take on Huntingdon on Monday in Montgomery in a doubleheader and will return to action this weekend with away games at Alabama Southern in Monroeville Friday and Saturday.
The Warhawks will return home March 26 to take on Central Alabama.

Game one: Chatt. Valley 9, JDCC 5
With the game tied at 5-5 after seven innings, Chattahoochee Valley scored one run in the eighth and three in the ninth to down JDCC 9-5.
JDCC led 3-1 after the sixth inning but fell to four runs in the seventh inning to trail 5-3 before plating two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Stephen Scoggins was 1-for-1 and Blake Long was 1-for-4 for JDCC at the plate while Ryne Phillips was 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Harry Haring was 1-for-3 with two RBIS and Robbie Jernigan was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Reid Wynn was 1-for-4 with a double.
Shelby Jordan took the loss on the mound for the Warhawks as he went two innings and allowed no earned run (three total) on two hits, walked two and struck out three.
Sam Sharpe went 2/3 of an inning and allowed no earned runs (two total) on one hit and struck out two.
Andrew Favant went six innings allowing two earned runs (three total) on nine hits, walked four and struck out seven.
William Shell went 1/3 of an inning and allowed one run on no hits, and walked one.
JDCC committed three errors in the loss.
Game two: CVCC 17,
JDCC was held to one hit and made errors while Chattahoochee pounded out 15 hits and scored 17 runs, including nine in the fourth inning, to drop JDCC to 4-14 overall.
Bill Hambrick had the lone hit for JDCC, as he was 1-for-2 in the loss.
Chattahoochee scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, one in the third and nine in the fourth to get the win.
Shane Ikner took the loss on the mound going two innings and allowed six earned runs (seven total) on six hits, walked and struck out three.
Sharpe went 2/3 innings allowing two runs on three hits and Zach Payne went 1 1/3 inning allowing three runs (four total) on one hit, walked three and struck out none.
Haring went one inning and allowed one hit, walked one and struck out two.
Game three: JDCC 4,
CVCC 3
JDCC ended their losing streak with a come-from-behind win Sunday as Wynn hit the game winning solo homerun in the eighth inning to give JDCC a 4-3 win.
JDCC trailed 3-0 after the top of the fourth inning before plating runs in the bottom of the fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth to get the win.
Michael King took the win on the mound going a complete game.
