Local emergency management officials are keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Bonnie, which could enter the Gulf of Mexico late today or early Saturday.

Tropical Depression Three has formed northeast of Cuba and is currently headed to the west-northwest.

“Long range predictions have the storm passing across the Gulf to Louisiana or Texas,” Escambia County Emergency Management Director David Adams said. “It is still too early to have a great deal of confidence of the track of this storm. Once it reaches the Gulf, it can impact any portion of the Gulf Coast.”

Adams encouraged residents to keep an eye on the storm and to review emergency plans.
