Mrs. Mary Rosetta “Rose” Hoomes Uptagrafft age 92 of Guntersville, died Tuesday morning Sept. 14, 2010, in a Guntersville health care facility after an extended illness. Mrs. Uptagrafft was the 12th and last surviving child of William Henry and Jeanetta Hoomes, and was a native and former resident of Brewton and a former resident of Verbena before moving to Guntersville in 2004. She was a homemaker and a member of the Guntersville Church of Christ. Mrs. Uptagrafft was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Uptagrafft; two children, Elmer Eugene, Jr. and Margaret Louise, died as infants; and three grandchildren.

She is survived by six children, Henry E. and Mary Uptagrafft of Brewton, C. Ray and Janice Uptagrafft of Spanish Fort, N. Marie and Ben Williams of Andalusia, Dewitt and Joan Uptagrafft of Huntsville, Raymond and Darlene Uptagrafft of Guntersville, Janice S. and Andy Odom of Guntersville; 12 grandchildren and eight grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Hoomesville Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Hoomesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m.
