JDCC volleyball gets first win

In a Thursday home game for the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk volleyball team, JDCC picked up their first win 3-1 over Lawson State.
“The girls played hard and thing are starting to come together,” JDCC Lady Warhawk head coach Misti Nims said. “We have a tough road trip coming up and a long day at the Gadsden tournament starting at 9 a.m. against Gadsden (today).”
Earlier in the week, JDCC lost 3-1 to Sneads.

JDCC dropped to 0-4 prior to Thursday’s win as they lost to Sneads 3-1. JDCC lost set one 25-23 before taking set two 25-18. In set three, JDCC lost 25-23 and 15-18 in set four.
Jakiaria Boyd had 10 kills and 27 attacks in the loss. Olivia Jobson led with two service aces and Amber Broughton led with 17 kills. Chelsey Slone led in the loss with three blocks.

Lawson 1
Thursday at home, JDCC defeated Lawson 3-1 to improve to 1-4. JDCC lost set one 25-23 before winning the next three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-19.
Boyd led with nine kills and Slone led with 25 attacks. Jobson had eight service aces and Broughton led with 21 digs. Kali Flanders led the team with two blocks.
