Warhawk basketball gets win Saturday

After not playing for almost two weeks, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team got back to action Saturday and got back on the winning track.
The Warhawks ended their two game losing streak as they downed Enterprise State 74-73 on the road. The win for the Warhawks improved them to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
In the game Monday, the Warhawks held a four-point lead at the half, 37-33, but was outscored in the second half by three points, 40-37, but were able to hang on for the one-point win.
JDCC shot 46.9 percent from the field in the win and was 11-for-19 from the free throw line for 57.9 percent.
Braylon Lazare led JDCC with four offensive rebound, three blocks, and was one of three Warhawks in double figures and one of eight Warhawk scorers. Lazare led JDCC with 21 points.
Brandon Scott led JDCC with six defensive rebounds and nine total and Kahlee Tyler and Sherman Presswood led with five assists each.
Presswood also totaled four steal in the win.
Along with Lazare’s 21 points, Tyler finished with 18 points and Scott totaled 10 points.
Daryl Duncan had nine points and Presswood added seven. Chris Peak chipped in four points along with three from Turmonte Ragland and Adam Stumpf with two points.
JDCC was set to take on Marion Military Monday at home. The game against Marion will end JDCC’s schedule in December as their Dec. 10 game against Mississippi Gulf Coast has been postponed to Jan. 7 at 6 p.m.
