JDCC basketball wins in OT; road game today (Monday) postponed

UPDATE: Per JDCC head basketball coach Allen Gainer, today’s road game at Southern Union has been postponed due to winter weather until Jan. 22.
In a game that was originally scheduled for Friday, Dec. 10, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team claimed an 82-77 overtime win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Friday at home. The Warhawks had not played a game in over a month and one day (Dec. 6- Jan. 20).
The Warhawks trailed Mississippi Gulf Coast 41-35 after the first half of play but outscored MSGCCC 36-30 in the second half to tie the game at 71-71 after regulation.
In overtime, the Warhawks held an 11-6 advantage to get the win by five.
JDCC had 12 scorers in the game with three in double figures.
Braylon Lazare led the Warhawks with 18 points and five offensive rebounds.
Turmonte Ragland followed with 12 points and four steals to lead the team and Brandon Scott added 10 points and one block.
Sherman Presswood had nine points and Gabriel Rice had eight points along with one block and seven defensive rebounds and nine total to lead the team.
Daryl Duncan had seven points and Kahlee Tyler had seven points and five assists to lead the Warhawks. Eric Vidrine had three points and Larel Jackson, Chris Peak and Derell Washington all had two points for the Warhawks in the win.
The Warhawks will be back in action Thursday at home against Enterprise. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Warhawk Gym in Brewton.
