Warhawks fall to ASCC Saturday

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team lost a home conference game Saturday to Alabama Southern 90-84.
The Warhawks were outscored in the first half 39-32, but outscored ASCC in second 52-21 to lose by six.
With the loss, JDCC is now 5-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The Warhawks shot 40 percent (26-for-65) from the field in the loss and was 4-fof-18 from the 3-point area for a shooting percentage of 22.2 percent.
JDCC was 28-for-38 from the free throw line while the Eagles of Alabama Southern were 19-of-21.
JDCC had five players in double figures in the loss while Alabama Southern had three. Of the double figure scorers for Alabama Southern, one player had 30 points followed by one with 23 and another with 18.
Turmonte Ragland and Brandon Scott led the Warhawks with 16 points each and Daryl Duncan had 13 points. Kahlee Tyler chipped in 12 points and Gabriel Rice had 11.
Other scorers for the Warhawks were Braylon Lazare with nine points and Larel Jackson with nine.
Duncan led with four steals and Lazare led with three blocks. Tyler and Presswood had four steals each and Rice led with five defensive rebounds and eight total. Scott had five offensive rebounds.
The Warhawks were set to play at Faulkner State Tuesday and will be at home Thursday against LBW for a 7 p.m. conference game.
