JDCC baseball splits, now 8-8-1

In their recent two games Saturday and Sunday on the road, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team split to see their record go to 8-8-1.
JDCC lost at Snead State Saturday 12-1 but won Sunday at Gadsden State 8-2.
JDCC was set to play at home Tuesday against Northwest Florida State and will return to action at home Thursday at 1 p.m. against Jefferson State Community College.
Snead State 12, JDCC 1
Snead State scored five runs in the first and fourth innings to claim a 12-1 win over JDCC Saturday.
Snead State had only five hits but held JDCC to one run on three hits while the Warhawks committed three errors in the loss.
Robbie Jernigan was 2-for-2 for JDCC and Stuart Todd was 1-for-2. Brandon Blackwelder had the lone RBI for JDCC.
Jaris Whitaker, C. Vickery and Tyler Moore all pitched in the loss for JDCC going a combined five innings and allowing 12 runs with seven being earned on three hits, walking nine and striking out one.
JDCC 8, Gadsden State 2
After being held to three hits Saturday, JDCC pounded out 11 Sunday and scored eight runs to get an 8-2 win over Gadsden and improve their record to 8-8-1.
With the game tied at 2-2 after four innings, JDCC scored six unanswered runs over the next four innings to get the win by six.
Jordan Creel led JDCC going 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Mark Bass and Ryne Drummonds also had doubles in the win with Bass going 1-for-1 and Drummonds 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Xavier Cunningham was 1-for-2 and Tyler Walker was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Bill Hamrick was 2-for-6 and Dustin Bickmeyer was 1-for-1. Jernigan had one RBI in the win.
Jeremy Barnes earned the win in the game going 6 2/3 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits, walked two and struck out five.
