JDCC baseball splits in Mississippi

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team split a doubleheader over the weekend in Mississippi.
The Warhawks won their first game 3-2 over Holmes Community College but lost game two against Jones County 2-0.
The split saw JDCC’s record go to 10-10-1.
JDCC 3, Holmes 2
The Warhawks of JDCC held on for a 3-2 win over Holmes in the first game to improve their record to 10-9-1.
JDCC scored one run each in the second, third, and seventh innings to grab a 3-0 lead over Holmes before holding on for the win after Holmes scored two in the bottom of the seventh.
Jeremy Barnes earned the win on the mound for JDCC and Ryne Drummonds got the save.
Barnes went six innings and allowed no hits, two runs, one earned, walked one and struck out two.
Drummonds went one inning and allowed one hit, walked one and struck out one.
Brandon Blackwelder, Jordan Creel, and Maurice Leverett all had one RBI each. Blackwelder had a double and went 3-for-4 while Creel was 1-for-2 and Leverett was 1-for-3.
Lee Hunter and Nathan Edwards were both 1-for-2 along with Bennie Britton. Bill Hamrick was 1-for-4.
Jones 2, JDCC 0
In their second game, JDCC was held scoreless in a 2-0 loss to Jones.
Hunter was 2-for-3 and Xavier Cunningham and Robbie Jernigan were both 1-for-2 at the plate in the loss.
Joey Hedden took the loss on the mound going four innings and allowing two runs, three hits, and walked one.
Cole Vickery and Edwards went the rest of the way going two innings allowing four hits and waling one.
