A Tuesday afternoon execution of a search warrant netted the arrest of a Brewton man who now faces a variety of drug charges.
Charles Todd was arrested and charged with three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana.
Brewton Police Sgt. Andrew Casey said the arrest came after an investigation of activity by Todd.
“Agents had been conducting an investigation over a period of several months on Charles Todd involving illegal distribution of narcotics,” Casey said. “The agents obtained warrants for Todd’s arrest along with a search warrant for the area commonly known as ‘The Flats’.”
Casey said “The Flats” refers to an area near the intersection o Sowell Road and Liles Boulevard.
Casey said the search conducted by the agents resulted in the seizure of a variety of illegal substances.
“Agents found and seized a large amount of crack/cocaine, powder cocaine, several Ecstasy tables and approximately three-fourths of a pound of marijuana,” Casey said. “Due to the items found Todd was charged with several offenses.”
Casey said the seizure of drugs occurred approximately one-eighth of a mile from Brewton Middle School which could bring additional charges.
