JDCC softball sweeps to improve to 9-9

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team continued on their winning ways Sunday against Carl Sandburg College, sweeping a doubleheader to even their overall record at 9-9.
After having the game cancelled Saturday, JDCC swept Carl Sandburg 9-0 and 9-1 Sunday.
The Lady Warhawks will play at Central Alabama Community College Tuesday, March 8.
Game one: JDCC 9, CSC 0
In game one Sunday, JDCC pounded out 13 hits and scored nine runs while holding Carl Sandburg scoreless to get a 9-0 win and improve to 8-9.
Brittany Linton pitched a no-hit shutout for JDCC and was one walk away from a perfect game. Linton pitched six innings allowing one walk and struck out seven.
Andrea Ruschel had the hot bat for the Warhawks going 2-for-3 with a homerun and a triple and two RBIs.
Sarah Dunaway was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Kayla Hayes, Mallori Armstrong and Ashley Killan all had doubles in the win.
Hayes was 1-for-1 and Armstrong was 1-for-1 with one RBI. Killan was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
Elise Schanley was 1-for-3 along with Brittany McCastle in the win.
Game two: JDCC 9, CSC 1
In game two, nine was the magic number as JDCC scored nine runs again to win 9-1 and improve their record to 9-9.
JDCC used a four-run first inning to help get the win adding two runs in the second and sixth innings and one in the third while holding Carl Sandburg to one in the second inning.
Amber Steadham was 3-for-4 for JDCC with a homerun and two doubles and four RBIs to lead at the plate.
Schanley was 1-for-2 with a homerun and three RBIs. McCastle was 1-for-3 with a triple and Hayes was 2-for-2 with a double.
Nataline Moseley was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Armstrong earned the win for JDCC going two innings and allowing one runs, two hits, walked one and struck out three.
Alley Smith pitched two innings for JDCC striking out two and Loren McVicker pitched two innings allowing three hits and struck out one.
