JDCC baseball gets swept at Southern Union

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team lost their fourth straight game Saturday on the road at Southern Union to fall to 13-17-1 overall and to 3-7 in conference play.
The Warhawks lost 6-2 in the first game and 9-2 in the second game.
JDCC will be back in action Saturday at home against Wallace Dothan. Game time is set for noon.
Southern Union 6, JDCC 2
In game one against Southern Union, the JDCC Warhawks lost 6-2.
JDCC trailed 4-0 after the fifth inning, but cut the lead to 4-2 with two runs in the top of the seventh.
Southern Union scored two of their own in the bottom of the seventh to get the win by four.
Nathan Edwards was 1-for-3 for JDCC with a triple and Brandon Blackwelder was 2-for-3. Jordan Creel was 2-for-4 with two doubles and Bennie Britton had one RBI in the loss.
Dustin Bickmeyer and Robbie Jernigan were both 1-for-4 in the loss.
Ryne Drummonds took the loss on the mound for JDCC pitching five innings allowing eight hits, four runs, three earned, walked one and struck out four.
Southern Union 9, JDCC 2
In game two, JDCC was held to only two hits and two runs to lose by seven, 9-2.
Creel had one RBI in the loss for the Warhawks and Tyler Walker and Jernigan were both 1-for-3.
JDCC trailed 8-0 after the fifth inning and each team scored one run each in the sixth.
Jeremy Barnes pitched 2 2/3 innings and took the loss. Barnes allowed six hits, three runs, two earned runs, walked one and struck out one.
