TRM baseball splits with Excel Friday

After taking a win over the Excel Panthers at home Thursday in their first area game of the season, the T.R. Miller Tigers split with the Panthers Friday in Excel.
The Tigers lost game one 13-3 to the Panthers, but defeated the Panthers 20-7 in the game three tiebreaker.
With the split, T.R. Miller improved their overall record to 9-2 and to 1-1 in area play, but owns the tiebreaker over the Panthers.
Excel 13, TRM 3
In game one against Excel, the Tigers committed six errors and left eight runners on base in a 13-3 loss to the Panthers in game one Friday in Excel.
Excel led 2-0 after the first inning and 6-3 over T.R. Miller after two innings. Excel padded their lead to 8-3 with two runs in the third inning and added five in the fifth to end the game with a 10-run win in five innings. The Panthers had three homeruns in the game with two in the third inning and one in the fifth.
Jacob Fillmore was 1-for-2 for T.R. Miller at the plate in the loss with two RBIs and Kevin Davis was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Collin Graves was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Ryan Hunt was 2-for-3.
Fillmore took the loss on the mound going three innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, eight hits, struck out three and walked none.
Conner Denton went one inning and struck out one and walked two. Hunt went two innings allowing five runs, two earned, two hits, walked two and struck out none.
TRM 20, Excel 7
In game two Friday and the deciding area game between the Tigers and Panthers, T.R. Miller pounded out 17 hits and had 15 RBIs to get a 13-run win over Excel.
T.R. Miller led 4-0 after the top of the third before Excel scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-4 lead.
T.R. Miller regained the lead with three runs in the fourth to take a 7-6 lead and had a 13-run fifth inning to turn a one-run lead into a 14-run lead at 20-6.
Excel added one run in the fifth, but T.R. Miller took the win.
Denton led T.R. Miller going 5-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs. Trent Robinson had a solo homerun in the second for the Tigers and Wil Riggs was 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs.
Fillmore was 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI and Caleb McAnally was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Kameron Winn was 2-for-4 with one double and two RBIs and Graves, Davis, and Hunt all had one hit each.
