An Escambia County man will spend 15 years in prison following his guilty plea on sexual abuse charges.
Ernest Hall was arrested in April 2010 on charges of first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.
In court last week, Hall pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse charge, but the sodomy charge was nol prossed in his plea agreement.
Hall was ordered to spend 15 years incarcerated in a facility of the Alabama Department of Corrections.
Escambia County District Attorney Steve Billy said conditions of the sentencing will also require Hall to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
Also last week, Willie Frank Green II entered a guilty plea on a drug charge stemming from an arrest made in February 2010.
Green entered a guilty plea on charges of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance with a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance dismissed in the plea agreement.
Green, a resident of Ed Thomas Road in Atmore, was arrested following a traffic stop in Brewton last year that uncovered items that brought a variety of drug charges against him. At the time of his arrest, Green was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (cocaine and marijuana).
Green was out on bond on a charge of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and his bond was revoked at the time of the arrest. The vehicle Green was driving was also seized.
Green was sentenced to 20 years in an Alabama Department of Corrections facility. However, the sentence was split. Green will be required to serve three years in a state correctional facility and serve an additional three years probation upon his release.
