JDCC baseball ends losing streak with split Wednesday

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team ended their 10-game losing streak Wednesday with a split against Enterprise State.
The Warhawks won game one 4-3 to end the streak, but lost game two 12-7.
The Warhawks saw their record go to 14-24-1 overall and to 4-14 in conference play.
JDCC 4, Enterprise State 3
The Warhawks of JDCC ended their losing streak in game one Wednesday against Enterprise State winning 4-3.
JDCC led 1-0 after the first inning but saw Enterprise tie the game at 1-1 in the fourth.
JDCC took a 3-1 lead in the sixth with two runs and both teams scored one run in the eighth as JDCC took a 4-2 lead in the ninth.
In the top of the ninth, with two outs, Enterprise loaded the bases and got a single to cut the lead to 4-3 and tried adding the tying run but was thrown out at the plate for the final out to give JDCC the win by one.
Joey Hedden earned the win on the mound going 7 2/3 innings allowing five hits, two runs, one earned, walked none and struck out three.
Lee Hunter was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Brandon Blackwelder was 1-for-3 along with Jordan Creel.
Tyler Walker was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Bill Hamrick was 1-for-3 with a double.
Enterprise 12, JDCC 7
Enterprise scored in every inning but two to take down JDCC 12-7 in game two and earn a split.
Enterprise scored three runs in the first inning with two coming on errors at the plate.
JDCC trailed 3-2 after the first inning and 8-2 after the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, JDCC cut the lead to 8-4 but saw Enterprise score three in the fifth and one in the sixth to hold a 12-4 lead after the top of the seventh.
JDCC would plate three in the bottom of the seventh, but did not get any closer as they lose by five.
Hunter was 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI and Nathan Edwards was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Blackwelder was 1-for-3 and Bennie Britton was 1-for-4. Bill Hamrick was 1-for-2 and Maurice Leverett was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Corey Thompson took the loss on the mound going three innings allowing six hits, eight runs, three earned, walked two and struck out three.
JDCC made four errors in the loss.
