Two Brewton area men are in custody and have been arrested in the shooting death of a teenager Evergreen.
Akeem Green. 22, and Dominique Dixon, 25, both residents of the Brewton area, were arrested and each charged with one count of capital murder, Evergreen Police Chief James Simpson said.
The 17-year-old was identified as Jered Derrell Dees. He had been shot three times, Simpson said. Dees was a resident of Evergreen and had been a student at Hillcrest High School.
Simpson said the shooting occurred around 12:10 a.m. on Friday. Police responded to a call from a location on Jordan Street and when they arrived, they were told the victim was lying in the street on Smith Street. Officers found the victim lying in the middle of the street, not breathing and unresponsive. They administered First Aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Simpson said that the incident may have been drug related, but the case is still under investigation.
