Brewton

Mrs. Lucinda Burke Jackson, 70, died Thursday, June 9, 2011. She was a native of Brewton and had been a resident of New Brunswick, N.J., before returning to Brewton in 1995. She was employed at Container Corporation of America for 29 years and worked for Loreal Cosmetics where she retired. She attended Southern Normal School and graduated from Booker T. Washington School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elzona Harris and Frank Burke; a brother, Charles Payne; a sister, Myrtice Golden and a grandson, Jah’ree Ahimier Jackson.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Luther Jackson of Brewton; three daughters, Luthelia Jackson, Tiffany Jackson and Heidi Jackson, all of Brewton; six sisters, Carolyn (Joseph) Johnson, Barbara (Frank) Green and Teretha (Ervin) McCants, all of Brewton, Faye (Andre) Badger of New Brunswick, N.J., Cynthia Arnponsah and Jean Ratcliff, both of Waycross Ga.; four brothers, Franke (Pat) Burke of Atmore, John Ray (Eula Marie) Burke of Flomaton, Timmy (Cynthia) Harris of Blackshear, Ga., and Johnny Burke of Georgia; six grandchildren, Jasmin Jackson, Diamant’e Jackson, Jah’mier Jackson, Ryshaun Autrey, Christian Autrey and Na’Diyan Smith; an aunt, Elmira Mitchell of Chicago, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Carl Golden of Phenix; several very good friends and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15, at 1 p.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Clemmons officiating. Burial followed at Second Bethlehem Church Cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.
