After a five-month undercover investigation, the Brewton Police Department performed a sweep through the Brewton area Wednesday making 10 arrests in the process.
Lt. Bryan Davis, commander of the Brewton Police Narcotics Division, said Wednesday afternoon’s sweep was the second event if its kind performed by the department in recent weeks.
“This was our second round up of several suspects involved in illegal drug activity,” Davis said. “This was the result of a second undercover operation conducted by the department I the last five months.”
Just two weeks ago, 15 arrests were made when a three-month long undercover operation was completed with a sweep of arrests.
Arrested Wednesday were: Carol Winstead, 60, of Old Castleberry Road, charged with distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Ganie Spears, 45, of Gowan Street, charged with distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Mario Lovelace, 32, of Dacus Street, charged with two counts each of distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Terrance Heath, 35, of Conley Street charged with distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Kenneth McWilliams, 19, of Titi Street in Flomaton, charged with distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Luther Kelley, 72, of Karen Street in Flomaton, charged with criminal conspiracy to commit controlled substance crime; Robert Jones, 55, of May Street charged with distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Emanuel Jackson, 36, of East Jackson Street, charged with distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Deparrish Campbell, 19, of East Jackson Street charged with distribution and possession of a controlled substance; Ashante Smith, 29, of Palmer Street charged with possession of controlled substance — cocaine.
Davis said more than 40 officers joined together in Wednesday’s sweep to make the roundup a success.
“We had a group of over 40 police officers from six different law enforcement agencies helping to locate the suspects,” Davis said. “We appreciate their help with this operation.”
Although 10 suspects were arrested, Davis said eight other individuals are being sought.
“We have warrants on eight other suspects that we need to find,” Davis said. “Anyone with information on those wanted is asked to contact Brewton police.”
Those listed as wanted by Brewton Police are: Katherine Walker Mobley, 49; Wendell White, 53; Iviory Miles, 59; Eubie Kennedy, 27; Sherry Flowers, 47; Daymond Jones, 36; and Gentell Green, 24.
Agencies assisting the Brewton Police Department and Narcotics Division with the round up were the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force, 21st Judicial Drug Task Force, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Pardon and Parole and Florida Department of Corrections K-9 teams.
