TRM XC girls place third at state; Stokes places fifth for boys

After three straight years of finishing as the class 3A state runner-up at the AHSAA state cross country championships, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers placed third Saturday at the state meet at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park.
The Lady Tigers scored 103 points to place third behind state champion Montgomery Academy’s 36 points and runner-up Rogers’ 49 points.
Karisa Nelson led the Lady Tigers Saturday as she finished first and as the overall individual champion for the third straight year with a time of 18:20.07.
Allie Nelson placed eighth out of 125 runners with a time of 20:11.30. Katie Nelson placed 23rd with a time of 21:12.09 and Amber Nelson placed 38th with a time of 21:48.79.
Taylor Guthrie finished with a time of 22:44.65 for 58th place and Amber Terry placed 61st with a time of 22:53.80.
Katie Baggett’s time of 23:10.93 earned her 65th place and Breann Huff placed 70th with a time of 23:31.55.
Hannah Blair had a time of 25:27.11 for 100th and Ashley Daugherty placed 109th with a time of 26:40.28.
Rounding out the other team finishers was Bayside Academy in fourth, Randolph in fifth, Winfield in sixth, Sipsey Valley in seventh, Madison Academy in eighth, Pisgah in ninth, Indian Springs in 10th, Elkmont in 11th and Gordo in 12th.
Lone T.R. Miller boys runner Rob Stokes placed fifth out of 127 runners Saturday in class 3A. Stokes finished with a time of 17:09.77.
