JDCC baseball drops to 0-4

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team saw their record fall to 0-4 over the weekend as they were swept by Lawson State.
The Warhawks lost game one to Lawson Saturday by a score of 14-11 to fall to 0-3 and dropped game two to Lawson 3-2 to fall to 0-4.
Thursday at Marion Military, JDCC lost 3-2 to fall to 0-2.
The Warhawks will be back in action Saturday at home in a doubleheader against Mississippi Gulf Coast. Game time is set for noon.
MMI 3, JDCC 2
Leading 2-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth Thursday at Marion Military, JDCC surrendered two runs in the inning to lose 3-2.
JDCC led 2-0 after scoring runs in the fifth inning before MMI cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.
Brandon Blackwelder led the Warhawks at the plate as he went 2-for-4 with a homerun and one RBI. Jordan Creel added one RBI and Dustin Bickmeyer was 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss.
Dillan Schaniel was 1-for-2 and Andrew Tindell was 1-for-4.
Trey Place took the loss for JDCC on the mound as he went 2 1/3 innings allowing one hit, two runs, one earned, walked one and struck out three.
Joey Hedden, Jeremy Barnes and John Williams all pitched in the loss for JDCC.
Game one: Lawson 14, JDCC 11
In game one against Lawson Saturday at home, JDCC rallied to take the lead over the Cougars before falling by three.
Lawson built an 8-4 lead over JDCC before the Warhawks rallied to take a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Lawson plated five runs to regain the lead at 13-11 after JDCC scored two in the bottom of the inning. Lawson would add one in the top of the ninth to get the three-run win.
Blackwelder was 3-for-4 for JDCC in the loss with two doubles and two RBIs.
Danny Sellers was 1-for-4 with three RBIs and Schaniel was 2-for-6 with two RBIs.
Keaton Maher was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Freeman was 3-for-5 with one RBI and a double.
Barnes, Michael Yarborough, Tyler Howell and Williams all pitched for JDCC in the loss.
Game two: Lawson 3, JDCC 2
In game two, Lawson edged out JDCC by one to keep the Warhawks winless.
Lawson led JDCC 2-1 after the first inning and took a 3-1 lead in the sixth. JDCC added one in the seventh but failed to get closer as they took the loss.
Nathan Edwards had one RBI in the loss and Creel was 1-for-3 along with Bickmeyer and Freeman. Freeman had a double in the loss. Ray was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Tindell was 1-for-1 with a triple.
Edwards, Corey Thompson, Tyler Moore and Cody Brannen all pitched for JDCC.
