The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team improved their winning streak to three games Thursday at Faulkner University in Montgomery as they swept a doubleheader.
JDCC won game one 10-8 and game two 11-5 to improve their overall record to 6-9.
“We played very sloppy in the first game with poor pitching early, a few lackadaisical errors early, and gave away a few at-bats versus their left-hander early,” JDCC head coach Darrell Blevins said. “We came from behind in the top of seventh to get the win though. Coming from behind was a good thing to show our guys that we can do it and that they can manufacture runs when they concentrate. Had a little different line-up in game one to get some players a few more at-bats.”
In game two, Blevins said the offense was dominant.
“Base running was superb,” he said. “Corey Thompson showed signs of being really good in the first inning through the third inning. Very good outfield play on defensive side with Jordan Creel and Brandon Blackwelder chasing down a couple of balls that could have started a rally.”
JDCC will be back in action at home Saturday against Wallace-Selma in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. The game will follow T.R. Miller and Pensacola Catholic at 10:30 a.m. at JDCC.
