In their first conference games of the year Wednesday, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team saw their five-game winning streak come to an end at Faulkner State.
The Warhawks of JDCC lost game one 13-4 and game two 6-3. With the loss, the Warhawks saw their record fall to 8-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
“Hats off to Faulkner,” JDCC head coach Darrell Blevins said. “They played really well in each phase of the game. They were just better than we were. We didn’t play just awful, but we must play cleaner and a little more efficient in our pitching and our offense versus teams the caliber of Faulkner State. We will get back on the field Thursday, make some slight adjustments to get better than we were against Faulkner and get ready for Bishop State to roll in here on Saturday.”
The Warhawks will play at home against Bishop State Saturday at noon in a doubleheader.

Faulkner State 6, JDCC 3
In game one against Faulkner, the Warhawks saw their winning streak snapped after Faulkner defeated JDCC 6-3.
Faulkner led the Warhawks 4-0 after three innings before the Warhawks responded with three in the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3.
From there, Faulkner scored two in the bottom of the fourth to get the win by three.
At the plate for the Warhawks, Brandon Blackwelder was 1-for-3 and Stuart Todd was 1-for-1. Keaton Maher went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Corey Lane had one RBI.
Kyle Freeman was 1-for-2 and Andrew Tindell was 1-for-4.
Joey Hedden and John Williams pitched for JDCC. The duo went six innings allowing nine hits, six runs, five earned, walked five and struck out two.

Faulkner State 13, JDCC 4
In game two, JDCC led 4-1 after the top of third inning before Faulkner scored 12 unanswered to win by nine, 13-4.
Faulkner scored two runs in the third, three each in the fourth and fifth and four in the sixth to get the win.
At the plate for JDCC, Blackwelder was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Maher was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
Mark Humphreys, Lane and Brandon Ray all had hits in the loss.
Corey Thompson, Michael Yarborough, and Trey Place all pitched going six innings allowing 16 hits, 13 runs, 10 earned, walked and struck out two.
