Mr. Lawrence Smith, 59, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 in a local hospital. He was a native and life long resident of the Brewton area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, and later worked for Brewton Iron Works. He was a member of Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his parents, Lawyer and Annie Mae Smith; and a son, Lawrence Smith, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Smith of Brewton; a son, Jason (Michelle) Smith of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Victoria Smith and Felicia Smith, both of Brewton; two brothers, Jessie (Regina) Smith and Richard (Nora) Smith, both of Brewton; three sisters, Burech (Otis) Floyd and Marie (Ralph) Barton of Brewton, and Marion Harris of Warner Robins, Ga.; and fourteen grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Floyd officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
