Brewton Cal Ripken starts season Thursday night

With only four total teams this year for Brewton Cal Ripken, the league had opening day Thursday at the Brewton YMCA Sports Park.
The Angels and Mets are the two lone teams in the 11-12 division while the 9-10 division has the Yankees and Indians.
In Thursday’s opening day games, the Angels shutout the Mets 4-0 while the Yankees took down the Indians 12-10.
Angels 4, Mets 0
Drew Williamson started on the mound for the Angels and pitched three innings, allowing no runs, one hit, struck out eight, and walked none in a 4-0 shutout win.
At the plate for the Angels, Williamson was 1-for-3 with a single and Daniel Blair was 1-for-2 with a double. Russell Smith was 1-for-1 with a single and a walk and Austin Greenwood was 1-for-2 with a double.
Smith came in to pitch the last three innings for Angels in the win. Smith allowed no runs, two hits, struck out seven, and walked two.
For the Mets at the plate, Hunter Johnson was 2-for-3 with two singles and Daniel Reed was 1-for-3 with a single.
Jason Konsler started on the mound for the Mets. Konsler pitched four innings, allowing four runs, three hits, struck out 10, and walked two.
Joseph Blackburn pitched the final inning and allowed no runs, one hit, struck out two, and walked none.
Yankees 12, Indians 10
In 9-10 action Thursday, the Yankees edged out the Indians 12-10 in a high scoring game.
The Yankees pounded out seven hits while the Indians had five.
For the Yankees, Logan Bush had two hits and scored two runs in the win and Blake Jernigan and Jaxson Flores both had one hit and scored one run.
Early Dolihite had one hit and scored two runs in the win while Landon Qualls and Brandon Smith had one each hit and scored one run.
Stone Martin and Cole Jernigan both scored one run and James David Hartin scored two in the win.
Bush pitched three innings allowing five hits, nine runs, seven walks and struck out four.
Jernigan went two innings and allowed no hits, one run, walked two and struck out four.
For the Indians, Kyle Blevins and Miller Hart had two hits each with Blevins scoring three runs and Hart scoring two. Whitley Lisenby added one hit and one run and Nolan Atkinson scored two runs.
Wyn Brittain and Will Adams both scored one run each.
Landon Sims pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing three hits, eight runs, walked eight and struck out two. Hart went 2 1/3 innings allowing four hits, four runs, walked three and struck out five.
