Mr. Vernie Edward “Shorty” Tyree, 60, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home in Atmore.
He was a native of McCullough, and a resident of Atmore for the past 14 years. He owned and operated Edward Tyree Trucking Company and he attended Presley Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernie Lee “Snooks” and Eloise Lassitter Tyree.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Powell Tyree of Atmore; two daughters, Brandy Tyree (Mike) Myrick of Robinsonville, and Elizabeth Tyree (Douglas) Godwin of Milton, Fla.; a brother, Robert Eugene (Patsy)Tyree of Flomaton: two sisters, Annice Tyree (Don) Atwell and Pam Tyree (Billy) Riddlehoover, both of Dothan; and two grandchildren, Phillip Michael Myrick and Morgan Alexis Myrick.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 31, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
