JDCC baseball defeats Enterprise 7-6 Friday

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team picked up a conference win Friday at home as they defeated Enterprise State 7-6.
JDCC trailed Enterprise 4-0 after the top of the fourth before rallying to tie the game at 4-all heading into the fifth inning.
JDCC would take a 5-4 lead heading to the sixth, but after Enterprise tied the game in the top of the sixth, the Warhawks responded with two runs of their own to take a 7-5 lead.
Enterprise cut the lead to 7-6 in the top of the seventh and had the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning, but JDCC was able to get the win by one.
Corey Thompson earned the win on the mound for the Warhawks while Jeremy Barnes earned the save.
Thompson went six innings and allowed seven hits, five earned runs, walked and struck out two. Barnes went three innings and allowed three hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out two.
At the plate, Brandon Blackwelder was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs and Brandon Ray was 1-for-5 with a double.
Nathan Edwards was 1-for-4 and Dustin Bickmeyer was 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Dillan Schaniel was 2-for-5 with one RBI and Mark Humphreys was 2-for-4. Kyle Freeman was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Andrew Tindell was 2-for-5.
JDCC lost two games to Enterprise Saturday falling 3-2 in game one in 13 innings and 5-3 in game two. No stats from those games were available as of press time.
The Warhawks, now 19-23 overall and 7-14 in conference play, were scheduled to play Faulkner University at home Monday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
