Leland ‘Bob’ Earl Sims

Mr. Leland “Bob” Earl Sims, 85, of Shoffner Street in East Brewton, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Georgiana and a long-time resident of East Brewton, He was a member and deacon of First Open Bible Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II. He was a former member of the American Legion, a retired foreman from the box factory at T.R. Miller Mill Company with more than 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Leon Earl Sims and Donnie Ray Sims.
He is survived by his wife, Pearlie Graves Sims of East Brewton; two sons, Paul Morris Sims and Johnny Lance (Ruth) Sims, both of East Brewton; four daughters, Patricia (Buddy) Lindsey and Diane S. Jones, both of East Brewton; Rita Faye Guss of Loxley and Deanna Dawn (Ben) Murphy of Brewton; one brother, Obie Preston Sims of Homossa, Fla.; one sister, Mary Alice Morrison of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the First Open Bible Church in East Brewton,
Funeral Services will be held Sunday June 10 at 2 p.m. at the First Open Bible Church with the Rev. Roy Skidmore and the Rev. Wayne Butts officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Beulah Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
