EB 8U all-stars eliminated from Evergreen tourney

The East Brewton 8U all-stars saw their postseason end in two games as they went 0-2 in their tournament in Evergreen.
East Brewton lost to Castleberry in their first game 8-7 and saw their season come to an end with an 11-1 loss to Andalusia.
Head coach Frankie Godwin offered thanks to everyone involved with the team this season.
“I would like to thank all the kids and parents that gave up their afternoons and Saturdays to play for East Brewton,” Godwin said. “Even though we did not win, I saw a lot of talent and most of it pure raw talent that could be developed into great baseball players. I would also like to thank Ryan Parr, Kevin Hoomes, Charlie Rose and Erik Hartsel for all they did and all the time they put in.”
Castleberry 8, East Brewton 7
The East Brewton all-stars saw their comeback fall short in their first game of the tournament Thursday against Castleberry.
In the opening game of the 8U tournament in Evergreen, Castleberry drew first blood by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first, Dustin Godwin singled and was followed by a Blake McNew doubles to put runners at second and third. Jordan Sims then singled to score Godwin to cut the lead to 4-1.
After a scoreless second inning for both teams, Castleberry scored two runs in the third inning to increase their lead to 6-1.
After a scoreless four inning by both teams, the bats for East Brewton finally came alive in the fifth inning as Walker Hoomes starting things off with single followed by Evan Hartsel’s single.
Dustin Godwin followed with a double to bring in two runs to cut the score to 6-3. Colin Stinson then singled for East Brewton to place runners on first and third.
Sims followed with a one-out bunt to score Godwin and to again have runners at first and third for East Brewton.
Dakota Rose grounded out for the second out of the inning but scored Colin Stinson while Langham Parr singled to bring home Jordan Sims to tie the contest in the fifth inning at 6-6.
Castleberry would answer back in the sixth inning with two scores of their own to take an 8-6 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. EB would get one run in the inning to cut the lead to one but would not get any closer.
In the loss Evan Hartsel was 1-for-4, Dustin Godwin was 4-for-4 with three RBIs, Colin Stinson was 1-for-4, Blake McNew was 2-for-3, Jordan Sims was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Dakota Rose had one RBI, Langham Parr was 1-for-2 with one RBI, Collin Nelson was 1-for-3, Carson Stinson was 1-for-2, and Walker Hoomes was 1-for-3.
Andalusia 11, EB 1
After two days of rain delays, EB finally got to play a game Tuesday, which would become their final one in the 8U tournament.
Andalusia scored five runs in the bottom of the first while East Brewton would cut the lead to 5-1 in the top of the second.
In the bottom of the inning, Andalusia answered right back and scored six more runs to take an 11-1 lead and get the win.
In the loss Godwin was 1-for-2, Colin Stinson was 1-for-2, Evan Hartsel was 1-for-2, Jordan Sims was 1-for-2, and Dakota Rose was 1-for-2 with the lone RBI.
