Almon Gage Strain

Mr. Almon Gage Strain, 80, died Aug. 8, 2012. He was a native of Brewton and graduated from T.R. Miller High School. He received his master degree in music from the University of Southern Mississippi, and taught school at W.S. Neal from 1959 to 1962, He taught at Geneva from 1962 to 1965. He later moved to Louisiana and taught in the Livingston Parish School System until his retirement in 1982. He was very active in his church and always stayed close to his music, teaching on several instruments. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Strain; and his son, Richard Almon Strain.
He is survived by two daughters, Melody Strain (Randy) Walker and Carole Joy Strain (Perry) Bordelon; his sister, Barbara Kay Strain Miller Carden of Brewton; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
There were no formal funeral arrangements as his body was donated to science.
