Andalusia sweeps BMS basketball teams in season finale Tuesday night at home

In their final games of the 2012 season Tuesday night at home against Andalusia, both the Brewton Middle School girls and boys team suffered losses to end their season.
The Lady Tigers, who finished the year with a 6-2 record and saw both their losses come at the hands of Andalusia, lost 31-23. In boys action, the Tigers lost 34-17 to the Bulldogs to finish their season with a 1-7 record.
Andalusia 31, BMS Lady Tigers 23
It was a tale of two halves Tuesday for the Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers as they ended their season with a 31-23 loss to Andalusia.
Brewton outscored Andalusia 12-8 in the first half but was outscored 23-11 in the second half to take the loss by eight points.
The Lady Tigers led Andalusia 9-2 after the first quarter and 12-8 at the half after Andalusia used a 6-3 run in the second quarter to cut the lead to four points.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs used a 9-0 run to take a 17-12 lead with 2:24 left in the quarter.
Andalusia would hold the Lady Tigers to only two points in the quarter while getting 12 of their own to take a 20-14 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Andalusia would edge out BMS 11-9 to get the win by eight.
Morgan Longmire led Brewton with six points while Akilah Brazile and Steely Ruzic both had five points each. Mary Madison Brown had three points and Destiny Watson and Mynetra Tolbert had two points each in the loss.
Brewton shot 6-for-13 from the free throw line while Andalusia was 5-for-12.
Andalusia 34, BMS boys 17
Troubles in the first and third quarters for the Brewton Middle School boys basketball spelled a 34-17 defeat Tuesday night by Andalusia in the season finale.
Brewton was outscored 15-3 in the first quarter and 11-3 in the third to help aid in the 17-point defeat.
Andalusia started the game on an 11-0 run to lead Brewton 15-3 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, both teams scored four points each as the Tigers trailed 19-7 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Andalusia stormed out of the locker rooms with an 8-0 run to lead 27-7 with 3:50 left in the quarter. The Bulldogs would go on and outscore Brewton 11-3 in the quarter to lead 30-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Brewton ended the game on a 7-4 run, but took the loss by 17.
Joshua Jolly and Marcus Paul led Brewton in the loss with eight points each while Stokes Jennings added one point.
The Tigers shot 6-for-11 from the free throw line while Andalusia was 2-for-4.
