Gilbert Earl McGlothren

Mr. Gilbert Earl McGlothren, 90, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 in Bay Minette.
He was a native of Chumuckla, Fla., a former resident of Nokomis, and a resident of Brewton for the past seven years. He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, DAV, VFW and American Legion. He retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service as Sgt. 1st class, Alabama Department of Corrections and was a farmer.
The mother of his children, Pauline Carnley McGlothren, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Sammie L. McGlothren of Brewton; three sons, Danny McGlothren of Arlington, Texas, Paul McGlothren of Wilmer, and Tommy McGlothren of Atmore; one stepson, Paul Shelley of Monroeville; one daughter, Lisa Powell of Milton, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Vickie Wilcox of Nephi, Utah, Eva McInnis of Eight Mile and Stephanie Spicer of Atmore; two brothers, Charles R. McGlothren of Mobile and Carlos McGlothren of Amite, La.; one sister, Edwina Roberson of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Dan McGlothren officiating. Burial will follow at the Sullivan Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore.
