Addiction recovery class to begin
Published 4:13 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2013
A local group will begin program sessions to help those fighting and recovering from addictions regardless of the source of the problem.
The Addiction Recovery Program (ARP) based on Christian doctrines, principles and beliefs will be held each Sunday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Brewton Library Community House.
The first session will be held Jan. 6 and will be lead by Dennis and Jill Jenkins.
Those suffering from addictions may have issues with substances such as alcohol, tobacco, prescription and illegal drugs or behavioral issues such as gambling, codependency, anger, viewing pornography, inappropriate sexual behavior and disorders associated with eating.
The free program will be held in a confidential setting using a first-names-only format. No one will be asked to share the nature of their addiction in the program adapted from the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous program.
Those suffering from addiction or those who live with someone who struggles with an addiction are invited to attend the classes.
