Selma edges out JDCC basketball

Coming off their first win of the season last week, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team fell back in the loss column Monday night with a road loss to Wallace State-Selma.
JDCC lost 68-60 to tall to 1-11 overall and to 1-1 in conference play.\
JDCC led Selma 38-34 after the first half but was outscored 34-22 in the second half to take the loss by eight points.
“We got down as much as 20, then Fletcher (Forte) caught fire and hit six 3-pointers in last five minutes,” JDCC head coach Allen Gainer said. “We cut it to seven and had the ball with about two minutes to play, but ran out of time and gas.”
Forte led the Warhawks with 24 points and Devonte Pope added 13 points in the loss. Corderrio Hasewood finished with nine points and Dee Jay Braggs had six. Anthony Bell chipped in five points and R.J. Bowers had three.
Braggs led with eight rebounds and Hasewood led with four assists. Adrian Rich led with one block while Hasewood led with four steals in the loss.
The Warhawks are scheduled to take on LBW Thursday in Andalusia at 7 p.m. before returning home Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tip against Chattahoochee Valley.
