Minister Lillie Mae Stacey Mooney, 95, of Old Castleberry Road, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Conecuh County, and a long time resident of Escambia County. She was a retired minister, having ministered at the East Brewton Church of God, North Brewton Church of God, Yellow Pine Church of God, Mills Chapel Church of God, Atmore Church of God and Stapleton Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Lucy Bell Stacey.
She is survived by a son, Chester Mooney of Brewton; a brother, Gene Smith of Illinois; two sisters, Mary Dyess of Mobile and Dorothy Pierce of Greenville; and a special friend, Beverly Coil of Brewton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Vernon Williamson and Dr. Tony Frazier officiating. Burial followed in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
