JDCC softball sweeps CVCC

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk softball team got their win percentage back to .500 at home Saturday after they swept Chattahoochee Valley.
JDCC, now 4-4 overall, took down CVCC 11-3 in their first game Saturday and rallied in game two to get a 12-10 win in extra innings.
In game one, JDCC trailed CVCC 3-1 after the top of the third before scoring three in the bottom half of the inning and seven in the fifth to get the 11-3 win.
Kayla Watson led JDCC at the plate with a 1-for-2 day. Watson’s day included a grand slam homerun.
Breana Hall went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI and Paige Harwell was 3-for-3.
On the mound for the Warhawks, Hall went five innings and allowed four hits, three runs, two earned, walked none and struck out two.
In game two, JDCC used a big sixth inning to rally and help force extra innings before wining in the eighth inning on a walk-off homerun.
JDCC trailed CVCC 7-0 in the sixth before scoring seven runs to tie the game at 7-all. Both teams scored two runs each in the seventh inning to see the game go into extra innings tied at 9-all.
After CVCC went on top 10-9 in the eighth, JDCC scored three runs in their half of the inning to get the win by two.
The three runs came off a Laura Zeegers homerun.
Watson, Morgan Agerton and Paige Odom all had doubles in the win to go along with Zeegars’ homerun. Watson and Odom had two RBIs each to go along with Zeegars’ three.
On the mound, Hall earned her second win of the day as she went 2/3 of an inning.
