Earline Hammac Portwood

Mrs. Earline Hammac Portwood, 79, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Escambia County, and a long time resident of East Brewton, before moving to Houston, Texas and then moving to Henagar, Ala.. She was of the Christian faith, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen J. Portwood; and two sons, William Portwood and Larry Portwood.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Carolyn) Portwood of Henagar; two daughters, Elizabeth (Joseph) Latour and Linda Jean Fincher, both of Houston; two brothers, Doc (Peggy) Hammac of East Brewton, and Lavon (Peggy) Hammac of Brewton; a sister, Peggy Dempsey of Brewton; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Portwood of Houston; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Speaker Paula Goff and great-granddaughter, Macy Martin officiating. Burial followed in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton, Alabama with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
