Mr. Phillip Murry “Boss Man” Carter, 64, died Friday March 29, 2013 at his residence. He was a native and former resident of Ouachita County, Ark.,  and a long time resident of Brewton. He was a member of Ridge Road Baptist Church, a member of the Alabama River Rat Family,  and a retired maintenance supervisor from T.R. Miller Mill Company with 34 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Carter; his stepmother, Dutch Carter; his mother, Jean Wilson; his half-brother, Billy Dale Wilson; his step brother. James Nutt and his step sister, Bobbie Jewel Shumaker.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Crawford Carter; two sons, Kirk (Sandra) Carter and David (Tara) Carter; a daughter, Mandy (Gary) Gibson; a sister, Judy (Ray) Moore; a brother, William (Shirley) Carter; a half brother, Randy Wilson; a half sister, Ruth Ann Wilson; three step-sisters, June Bowen, Shirley Burkette, Mary Sharp, her daughter-In-Law, Angela Carter;11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, at 11 a.m.. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Damascus Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
