JDCC softball splits with ASCC

With their regular season nearing the end—with only six series left on the schedule—the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team earned a split with Alabama Southern Wednesday in Brewton.
JDCC lost game one to the Eagles 8-4 before taking game two 11-5 to earn the split and see their record go to 11-30 overall and to 3-5 in conference play.
JDCC will play a makeup game with Faulkner State Sunday in Brewton at 1 and 3 p.m.
In game one Wednesday, after rallying with three runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead, JDCC gave up six runs in the fifth to Alabama Southern to take an 8-4 loss.
Despite the loss, Morgan Agerton and Keira Dawsey both had homeruns in the fourth inning for JDCC. Agerton finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a solo homerun and Dawsey was 1-for-2 with a two-run homerun.
Paige Odom was 1-for-3 and Courtney Lowery was 2-for-2.
Jessica Swindle was the starting pitcher for JDCC and took a no-decision. Swindle went 3 1/3 innings and allowed four hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out two. Elissa Kelly took the loss in relief as she went 3 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits, six runs, four earned, walked and struck out none.
In game two, JDCC pounded out 14 hits in an 11-5 win to get the split.
Agerton, Lowery and Sarah Beth Watkins all led JDCC at the plate with doubles. Lowery had two RBIs and Watkins had three in the win.
Kayla Watson, Jennifer Fisher, Odom, Laura Zeegers, Rachel Seitz and Breanna Hall all had had in the win. Watson, Fisher, Odom, Zeegers all had one RBI each.
In the circle, Hall earned the win going seven innings and allowing six hits, five runs, three earned, and walked one.
