JDCC softball sweeps LBW

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team improved their conference record to 5-5 overall and overall record to 13-30 Friday when they swept a conference doubleheader with LBW.
JDCC took game one 3-2 and game two 9-8.
In game one, the two teams played to a 1-all tie after seven innings before the Lady Warhawks outscored LBW 2-1 in the eighth inning to get the 3-2 in.
At the plate, Kayla Watson was 1-for-3 and Jennifer Fisher was 1-for-2 with one RBI. Paige Odom was 1-for-3 and Mindy Walker was 1-for-1. Sarah Beth Watkins went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Breanna Hall went seven innings for JDCC and allowed six hits, two runs, none earned, walked two and struck out seven.
In game two, JDCC blew a 5-1 lead but rallied from an 8-5 deficit in the third inning to get a 9-8 win.
“In the second game we were up 5-1 before LBW capitalized on a couple of walks and an error which included a grand slam,” JDCC head coach Misti Nims said. “Before we could get out of the inning, it was 8-5. The girls never lost focus and inch-by-inch tied the game back. In the top of seventh we pinched hit Keira Dawsey and she hit a solo homerun which was the game winner.”
At the plate for JDCC, Morgan Agerton and Odom both had a double while Dawsey had the homerun. Watson had two RBIs, Agerton had three, and Dawsey, Rachel Seitz and Hall all had one each in the win.
Watson had two hits, Agerton had three, Odom, Dymon Coachman, and Walker all had one hit each along with Dawsey. Seitz and Hall had two hits each.
Elissa Kelly earned the win on the mound going five innings and allowed five hits, two runs, none earned, walked one and struck out one. Jessica Swindle went two innings and allowed four hits, six runs, four earned, walked three and struck out none.
