JDCC baseball falls to Lawson State

Despite a 3-for-5 and five-RBI day at the plate for Logan Hill, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team dropped a 9-5 loss at Lawson State Tuesday. The loss, a non-conference loss for the Warhawks, dropped JDCC to 15-25 overall and was the fourth straight loss for the Warhawks.
JDCC trailed Lawson 2-0 after the first inning and 4-0 after the third before cutting the lead to 5-4 in the top of the fifth. From there, JDCC would be held to one more run in the sixth while Lawson plated one in the fifth and three more in the seventh to get the win by four runs.
Along with Hill at the plate, Mitchell Holmes, Kyle Freeman and Brandon Ray were all 1-for-4 and Hunter Bonds was 2-for-4 in the loss.
On the mound, Joey Scapecchi, Kenny Nabors, Tyler Henry and John Williams all pitched.
Scapecchi went four innings and allowed six hits, five runs, three earned, walked and struck out one.
Henry went 2 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs, two hits, walked none and struck out one. John Williams went 1 1/3 innings and allowed two hits, one earned run, walked and struck out one. Nabors allowed one hit, one earned run, walked two and struck out none.
The Warhawk baseball team will be back in action and conference play Friday and Saturday at Alabama Southern in Monroeville. Game time is set for 2 p.m. Friday and will be a nine-inning game while Saturday’s games will start at noon and will be a nine and seven inning doubleheader.
The Warhawks will return home on Thursday, April 25 when they host Wallace-Dothan in their final conference series of the year. Game time is set for 2 p.m. and will be a nine-inning game.
