The second Escambia County softball tournament will be held Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at Jefferson Davis Community College.
The tournament will feature W.S. Neal, T.R. Miller, Escambia County, and Flomaton in the two-day event with Flomaton hosting this year’s tournament. Last year’s host was T.R. Miller.
The tournament will begin Friday at 3:30 p.m. (Fridays start time was set for 4 p.m. but will start 30 minutes earlier due to the fact JDCC has no lights) with T.R. Miller and Atmore playing each other and Flomaton and W.S. Neal will play at 6 p.m. Atmore and Flomaton will be the home teams in the game. Home and away teams were decided by coin flip.
The tournament will resume at 8 a.m. Saturday with Atmore taking on W.S. Neal, followed by Flomaton and Atmore playing at 9:45 a.m. W.S. Neal will be home in game one while Flomaton will be home in game two.
T.R. Miller and Flomaton will play at 11:30 a.m. and T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will end the tournament with a game at 1:15 p.m. T.R. Miller will be the home team in the 11:30 a.m. game while W.S. Neal will be home in the tourney finale.
The tournament will be of round-robin format and all games will be a 90-minute time limit.
A trophy will be awarded for the first place team with concessions provided by JDCC softball.
W.S. Neal’s Lady Eagle softball team claimed the first-ever county tournament title last season.
NOTE: If games are cancelled Friday due to expected weather conditions in the area, all games will be played Saturday starting at 8 a.m. with Friday’s games being played first. Games will only be one hour and 10 minutes instead of scheduled one hour and 30 minutes.
