Walter Henten Broughton

Mr. Walter Henten Broughton, 88, died Wenesday, May 22, 2013. He was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a resident of Brewton for many years. He was an active member of Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, a Mason lodge member, and owner of Broughton’s Barber Shop for 55 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Broughton; and two sisters, Rebecca Coleman and Cleo Hardy.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Willie Mozelle Mallard-Broughton; six children, Feast (Deborah) Broughton, Constance (Bernard) Johnston, Brinda Norwood, Linda (Carlos) Stevenson, Walter (Jacqueline) Broughton and Donald Ray (Marilyn) Washington; a sister, Geneva Harris; a brother-in-law, William (Eula) Mallard; a sister-in-law, Ella (Samuel) Dasher; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a best friend, William “Bill” McGhee and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. W.J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Bergen Memorial Ceremony with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
