Annie Jo Morrell Burgess, 81, of Forrest Avenue in East Brewton died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at a Century, Fla., nursing facility. She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County and was a member of the East Brewton First United Methodist Church. She attended W.S. Neal School and was the former owner/operator of Burgess’ Market.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Burgess.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Mildred) Burgess of Jay, Fla., and Jeffrey (Lisa) Burgess of Bay Minette; two daughters, Paula Renee (Alan) Brown of Perkinston, Miss., and Stephanie Burgess of Pensacola, Fla.; six grandchildren, Wade Burgess, Krystal Hanks, Lindsey Brown, Ivey Burgess, Steven Brown and Ashton Burgess; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19 at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
