Joseph Leslie ‘Joey’ Blackburn

Mr. Joseph Leslie “Joey” Blackburn, 39, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in a Greenville hospital. He was a native of Brewton and had been a resident of Greenville for the past four years. He was a 1994 graduate of W.S. Neal High School and was pursuing a degree online from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He was a truck driver, served with the Alabama National Guard and was of the Holiness faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Joe Blackburn.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Brewton Blackburn of Greenville; his father, J.D. Blackburn of Brewton; his mother, Dorothy Rollins of Greenville; one son, John Blackburn of Greenville; a daughter, Patience Blackburn of Greenville; two stepdaughters, Paige Runge of Castleberry and Ciara Smith of Evergreen; brothers, William Paul (Christine) Blackburn, John McLain and Tony McLain, all of Greenville, and Richard (Trina) Blackburn of Brewton; sisters, Freida (Randy) Chavers of Decatur, and Teresa (Dewayne) Madden of Brewton; and an aunt, Lois Steele of Brewton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Peavy, the Rev. Richard Daniels, and the Rev. Fred Stallworth officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
