Mary Anne Hargett Creel

Mrs. Mary Anne Hargett Creel, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 in Alabaster. She was a former resident of Brewton and a resident of Montgomery. She graduated from T.R. Miller High School in Brewton and later graduated Suma Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in music in 1962 from Auburn University where she was in the marching band. She was a lifetime member of the Auburn University Alumnae Association and member of Tri Delta Sorority. She retired from the United States Bankruptcy Court after 22 years of service and was a member of Church of the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Montgomery, where she served for many years as the organist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Amos Hargett; her brother, James A. Hargett Jr.; a niece, Katherine Hargett Boyer; aunts, Anne F. Chambers and Pearl Hargett; and an uncle, Grady “Mack” Farley.
She is survived by her children, Laura Creel Roberts, Ronald J. Creel, Jr. (Jennifer); her granddaughters, Elizabeth Elaine Roberts, Kayleigh Anne Creel, Carleigh Renee’ Melton (Jake) and Shelby Elise Newell; her brother, William G. Hargett; cousins, Lucy Hatch, Patricia Manley, Linda Barley; and aunt Pat Farley. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, at Church of the Holy Comforter in Montgomery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and the service will follow at 2:30 p.m.
