In their final area game of the season Tuesday at Brewton Middle School, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers dropped a 3-0 loss to Cottage Hill. T.R. Miller fell to 8-4 overall and to 2-4 in area play.
The Lady Tigers lost set one 25-15, set two 26-24 and set three 25-9.
“We played well in spurts,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “In game two I thought we really got after it. In game two I thought we handled Cottage Hill’s serves well. When we finally started playing volleyball, we hung in there with them. In set three we didn’t handle their serves and got behind and you can’t get behind to a team like Cottage Hill. In game two, we had a chance to win it, but we didn’t. I thought, despite the loss, we may have played the best overall tonight. I told the girls after the game that that kind of effort will pay off for us down the road.”
In set one, Amelia Peach led T.R. Miller with two service points and one ace. In set two, T.R. Miller led 16-7 but took the loss by two. Moriah Brundidge led in the loss with six service points and one ace. In set three, Brundidge led with one service point in the loss.
In JV action Tuesday, T.R. Miller defeated Cottage Hill 2-0 to improve to 7-3.
T.R. Miller won 25-10 and 25-21.
In set one, Caitlin Smith led in the win with 13 service points and five aces. Of the 13, 10 were straight points to end the game.
In set two, Taylor Austin had four service points and four kills while Allie Nelson led with seven service points.
In middle school action Tuesday, Brewton ended their season with a perfect 12-0 record as they defeated J.U. Blacksher 2-0. BMS won set one 25-8 and set two 25-5.
