John Harris White Sr.

Mr. John Harris White Sr., 93, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in a Tulsa, Okla., medical facility. He was a native of Jena, La., and was a veteran of World War II, having served for four years with the U.S. Army. Following the war, he graduated from Louisiana State University law school and practiced law for a short time in Jena, La., before going to work for Exxon, where he retired after 35 years of service. He was a former resident of Brewton and Milton Fla., prior to moving to Tulsa to be near his daughter, Dr. Carol Howard. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Milton, until his health prevented him from attending.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Sarah W. White; and a son-in-law, Skippy White.
He is survived by his children, Donald (Diane) White of Tempe, Ariz., John H. White Jr. of Otai Ca., Clara White of Pollard, Drs. Carol (Bob) Howard of Tulsa, Okla., and Bill (Mary) White of Pensacola, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Scott officiating. Burial followed with military honors in Hillcrest Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
