JDCC basketball suffers loss in Tallahassee

Facing off against Southwest Tennessee Wednesday in Tallahassee, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team lost 98-78—despite having four players in double figures. With the loss, JDCC’s record fell to 1-3 this season with their third straight loss.
In the game Wednesday, JDCC was outscored by SWTCC 45-37 in the first half of play and 53-41 in the second to take the 20-point loss.
Mikwese Claybourne was the leading scorer for the Warhawks as he had 20 pints. Chris Oden followed with 13 points and Anthony Bell had 12 points. JaQuan Threatt rounded out the Warhawk scorers in double figures as he finished with 11 points. Christian Jones added nine points while Keaynon Gulley chipped in seven points. Michael Hutchins added six points in the loss for the Warhawks.
Darren Wilson led JDCC with eight rebounds—all coming on defense. Hutchins and Chris Oden led with two offensive rebounds.
Threatt led with four assists while Jones and Wilson both had one block each in the loss. Claybourne led JDCC with two steals.
The Warhawks shot 48.2 percent from the field (27-for-56) and 38.1 percent from the 3-point area (8-for-21). JDCC was 16-for-27 from the free throw line for 59.3 percent.
JDCC will play Tuesday at Spring Hill. The Warhawks will return home on Saturday, Dec. 7, when they are scheduled to take on Marion Military at 2 p.m.
