Mrs. Mary Lois Watson McGowin, 89, of East Brewton died on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 in a local nursing facility after a brief illness.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County. She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene East Brewton, where she was a senior Sunday school class teacher and served on the church board in many capacities. She was a retired nurse having worked for Dr. M. H. Hagood, Dr. Robert Low, and Dr. Robert Hayes for a total of over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Mr. Jack McGowin; eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Ella Bain of Vestavia Hills; a number of loving nieces and nephews; a number of loving great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 1 until 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. James meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery of Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
